Baby blanket

I haven't been doing much crafting lately. I am pretty worn out being pregnant, but I did make this for my sister-in-law's baby shower. I was pleased with how it turned out. I think I'll definitely make more baby blankets in the future.

Cards

Sadly, I don't have as much time as I use to for working on crafts.  I did however get some time this weekend to work on some cards.  Here are a few of the ones I made.  In this first one, I used some small flowers Ria crocheted for me.  They were pretty fun to use.  I wish the pictures would have turned out better, but my better camera was out of batteries.  Oh well.

Pinteresting

I have found some really fun ideas on Pinterest. Here are a few that I've actually tried.

The ruffle lamp shade

Kyle was given an old ugly lamp that used to be in the clerk's office at our church. We dropped on our friends' doorstep. They gave it back to us for Christmas. It would have been fun to continue and find some clever way to return it to our friends. But I wanted a lamp on our piano anyway, so we kept it. I wish I had a before picture. It wasn't very attractive. I got the idea for the ruffle shade from a picture I saw on Pinterest. I think this is an improvement, although I'm not really sure how Kyle feels about it. His only comment about it has been, "I've never seen a lampshade like that before."

So the thing on the wall is supposed to be a "sunburst mirror". I saw a really awesome one on pinterest. I used a little oval mirror, put it in a frame that I painted black. The sunbursts or petals or whatever they are, are just black poster board. I am still not sure if I like this or not.
These topiaries look more frilly than I intended. But I still like them. I punched out a bunch of little flowers from some red paper and pinned them on a styrofoam ball with pearl tipped corsage pins.

Glass Etching

Last Summer, Tauna showed me how to use vinyl to do etching on glass. I had a lady drop off these two glass containers for etching (they are going to sit on the gift table to hold cards at her daughters wedding reception).
Fun to have something new I can do :)

Sierra's waterfall

Sierra and I take an art class together on Thursdays. A few months ago she said she wanted to paint a waterfall. The art teacher, Bev, and I told her to try something easier, but she was really persistent. She just finished it and I'm glad she didn't listen to me!!!

Jenna's Afghan

I made Cara an afghan last year and have just started one for Jenna. I let Jenna choose what she wanted. Not surprisingly, she wanted flowers and bright colors.
I followed the pattern, but didn't like how big the first flower turned out.
The colors Jenna chose for her flowers and background. Choosing the yarn is my favorite part of any project.

I made up my own flower pattern. I like that it's a little bit lacy and looks more like a pansy. 2 blocks out of 54 done. (I tend to work on afghans on and off, so this may take me a year to finish).

Vinyl stuff

Thanks for setting up this fun blog Josie! I love to see the projects other people are working on, it motivates me!
I have been planning out my weekly menus and it is so much better because I only have to go shopping once a week (I hate Walmart :) I have made a lot of these menu boards lately and I really like them, they work great with dry erase markers, but the best are the liquid chalk markers.

I used coasters with ribbon to make the name tags. I love how this turned out!

Here are a couple things that I have done with my vinyl lately. This was actually kind of hard, to make a tile into a clock. I really like it though, it sits on my kitchen counter.

Baby stuff

The other day I was watching my friend's children. When it was time to feed the baby, I pulled out the baby food, spoon and bib from the diaper bag. I smiled when I saw the bib was the one I made for her when she was born. I decided to snap a picture of it while I had it. I remember it being more work than it should have been for a bib. But I like how it turned out. And the best part is knowing that they actually use it!

I used some old corduroy pants and pink ribbon, a button and some velcro and voila!

I bought a fabric jellyroll for this baby blanket. I loved the bright colors. I made this for the newest baby girl in the family. I had lots of trouble with the binding. And honestly, I kind of made it up as I went along. I need to read a tutorial or something. But in the meantime, I hope the bright colors of the fabric distract from the mess around the edges.

I made a little fabric flower clip (Audrey taught me) and clipped it onto the ribbon. This was a fun project!

Craft Blog~

So here is our craft blog. Basically, this a place to share our creations and talents. I am excited to see who participates and what is shared! I hope to finish a baby blanket tomorrow and share it with you all as long as it turns out decent. I probably won't be sharing my Denise Huxtable Gordon Gartrell attempts though. Remember that one? Classic.
